Family finds secret room full of toxic mold (and note) in newly purchased house
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Imagine finding a "secret room" in your house.

Jason and Kerri Brown of Greenville found a secret room in their home behind a bookcase, and what was inside was a nightmare beyond their wildest dreams.

"This can't be happening. This can't be true." Kerri Brown told News 4's Tim Waller.


The secret room in the old mill home on Whitten Street in Greenville's Dunean section contained a handwritten letter from the previous owner titled, "You Found It!"

Nasty Note = Longer Sentence
ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Note to defendants: Don't tell the judge to kiss the body part you sit on.
The South Carolina Court of Appeals has upheld a judge's contempt order against a St. Matthews woman who signed a court document with just such an instruction and told a probation officer to return the document to the judge.
Circuit Judge Diane Goodstein found Judith Law in contempt and ordered her to serve 90 extra days. Law challenged the ruling, saying the contemptuous behavior happened outside the judge's view.

A Cereal Offender Caught
A dozy burglar was caught after she left a trail of CORNFLAKES from the scene of crime.
Amber McCarthy, 31, accidentally scattered the cereal after stealing cash from a florist's till.

Dad Stole TV's To Pay For Girl's Prom
A man caught breaking into a Rent-A-Center store in Pontiac, Ill., to steal big screen TVs said he turned to crime to pay for his daughter's prom.
Manual Gaines was spotted after police officers on patrol heard breaking glass outside the business, The Bloomington (Ill.) Pantagraph reported Friday.

Man who had sex with dead deer gets more jail time
A Wisconsin man convicted of having sexual contact with a dead deer has been sentenced to nine more months in jail. Bryan James Hathaway, 21, of Superior had his probation revoked last month for using alcohol and marijuana, lying to his probation agent, and having unapproved contact with a minor child and sexual relations with another adult. A judge sentenced Hathaway to nine more months in jail during a hearing on Friday.
He was found guilty in April 2005 of felony mistreatment of an animal after he killed a horse with the intention of having sex with it.

Neighbor ‘stabbed himself in frame-up’
A former Hells Angel has appeared in court accused of stabbing himself in the chest to frame his neighbor for attempted murder. David Constantine was arrested by police after discharging himself from Newcastle's Freeman Hospital, where surgeons removed the blade from his chest. Police found him sitting in a chair at his home in Lanchester, County Durham, with the knife sticking out of his body, on New Year's Eve.

Army recruit kicked out over fake breasts
A female recruit is appealing after she was kicked out of army training in Germany for having breast implants.Alessija Dorfmann, 23, who has a D cup after the operation, said: "I am devastated - it has always been my dream to be a soldier and have a great figure - and now my fake boobs have cost me my job." I could not stop crying when they told me. I wanted to work as an army medic and help save lives."

Drug dealer refuses to leave his 'comfy' cell
A judge has condemned the "barking mad" human rights rules that allowed a drug dealer to stay in his prison cell rather than appear in court.Amir Ali, who was jailed for almost four years last September, refused to leave the "comfortable" cell because he was afraid of losing it to another inmate.
