Lucky Dog

A dog had 13 golf balls removed from his stomach after his owner noticed his stomach was rattling. Chris Morrison noticed an unusual sound from the stomach of his Black Labrador, Oscar, who he regularly walks on a golf course near his home.
When he took the five-year-old to a vet, he was stunned to find 13 balls were lodged in the dog's stomach.
Mr. Morrison, a planning administrator, said one of the balls had been in her stomach so long that it had turned black and was decomposing.
He said: "He finds golf balls like truffles. We're not sure how long exactly this happened over - but it must have been a fair period, several months at least.
"I felt his stomach and heard them rattling around. He normally brings a few home, but I had no idea he had eaten so many.
"It is normally around the ninth and twelfth fairways that we go around - and he just goes and searches for them wherever the golfers lose them."
The balls were removed two weeks ago in an hour-long operation conducted by Bob Hesketh, 40, a vet from Rosyth.
He said: "It was like a magic trick. I opened him up and felt what I thought was two or three golf balls. But they just kept coming until we had a bag full."
Oscar is now on the road to making a full recovery after a special post-operation diet of watered down food, but he now has to wear a muzzle during his walks.

No wonder this dog was feeling ruff

This is the amazing X-ray that shows why family pet Gracey was as sick as a dog - a 6-inch pair of surgical scissor clamps inside her for two years.
They were mistakenly left behind after an operation to spay her as a puppy.
A different vet operated to remove them - and the Rottweiler-cross is now fighting fit. Owner Trudi Deja-Summers, of High Halden, Kent said: "Before the first operation Gracey was happy but after it she wouldn't stop growling."
Eventually Gracey went lame in one leg and an X-ray revealed the cause - the scissor clamps. The vet who left them there apologized and offered to pay the £600 bill for the operation to remove them.
Trudi said: "Gracey is now coming to me for big hugs again."

Four Found Sleeping In Car After Burglary

The suspects accused of stealing nearly $10,000 worth of equipment, including 22 chainsaws, according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office.
Surveillance video from the store showed a white van with one wheel that was a different color than the others. The video also showed two men entering the store and removing items.
Deputies said they later found the van abandoned at Harbor Bay Plaza in Sewalls Point. The suspects were found sleeping in a nearby Jaguar and taken into custody.
Martin County sheriff's deputies arrested Armando Garcia and Abel Lahera, both of Miami; Emilio Moreira, of Hialeah; and Jorge Amador, of Cutler Bay.
According to the arrest affidavit, one of the suspects told investigators that they burglarized the store, parked the van in a parking lot and left in the Jaguar. It stated that they planned to wait a few hours and then blend in with the morning traffic.

Stuart Lawn & Garden posted this sign outside the store following Tuesday's burglary.

Small Bits of News You Didn’t Know You Needed

400 Arrests Made in Tampa
Police in Tampa arrested more than 400 people at the annual Gasparilla Parade.
Police say the arrests Saturday included 406 misdemeanors. The majority were alcohol related. Police also made seven arrests on felony charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer, battery on a police horse, fake ID and drug charges.
About two dozen suspects were transported to jail. All the rest were released and given notice to appear in court.
Police say seven juveniles face alcohol charges. Officials attributed the low number of juvenile arrests to an extensive education campaign in area high schools about a new zero tolerance policy.

Car Crash Leads to 238-Pound Pot Bust
Tracks in the snow leading from a crashed car to the nearby bridge overpass on New Mexico's I-40 just didn't look right to officers.
State police say that officers patrolling the stretch near Tucumcari Saturday found that 40-year-old Henry Alan Lowe of El Paso, Texas, had lost control of his sedan and crashed into a snow pile.
Then they noticed tracks leading back and forth from the trunk to the bridge.
They allege that partially hidden under the overpass were large plastic wrapped bundles and inside was about 238 pounds of raw marijuana with an estimated street value of more than $642,000.
Police say Lowe was arrested after treated for a gash to his head.
