Teen cuts his fathers hands off while he sleep
A 17-year-old Taiwanese boy has been arrested for cutting off his father's hands, allegedly for years of physical abuse, a police official said.
The boy cut through his father's wrists with a knife while he was asleep at the family's home in central Miaoli, the official said. The official was speaking on condition of anonymity, citing department policy.
The 37-year-old father, a divorced ironsmith, was in stable condition after doctors reattached his severed hands, the official said.
The father and son were identified only by their surname, Fan.
The police official said the boy admitted to cutting his father's hands off and showed no remorse, complaining that he was beaten after refusing to get a job while attending school.
The boy told the police that since his mother left home some 10 years ago, his father had frequently beat him and even tossed a chair or other objects at him.
The boy said he bought a knife and planned to kill his father two days earlier after his father reprimanded him for refusing to work and denied him allowances.

Missing 12-year-old girl is 8 ½ months pregnant
An Amber Alert has been issued for a pregnant 12-year-old and her younger sister from Mooresville.
Police issued the alert because the pregnant sister missed an appointment last week for an important medical procedure, and now her health could be a great risk.
The Iredell County Sheriff's Office says Keara and Sierra Hess have been missing since last Wednesday.
The girls, who are 12 and 11, are believed to be with their adoptive father, Matthew Hess.

Chances are high pot will be legal
That proposed ballot initiative to legalize marijuana in California for people 21 and older - and let local government tax the sales - has a good chance of passing.
People are no longer outraged by the idea of legalization, and truth be told, there is just too much money to be made both by the people who grow marijuana and the cities and counties that would be able to tax it.
Unlike the 1970s, when Mayor George Moscone first moved to decriminalize pot, marijuana is no longer about hippies. Thanks to medical marijuana, pot has moved from the alleyways to Main Street, with pot clubs springing up all over the state.

House Damaged By Wrong-House Oil Delivery
Ferrantino Fuel Corp. Pumps 100 Gallons of Oil into John Byas' Home, and He Doesn't Even Have an Oil Tank
His family has been forced out of their home, and his wife has been hospitalized from the fumes.
To say John Byas is angry over what happened to his home is putting it mildly.
"I work hard and it's a lot of money wasted," Byas said.
His newly renovated basement is ruined, his carpet yanked up, and furniture is piled outside in a heap, all because of a mistake made by the Ferrantino Fuel Corporation. They delivered 100 gallons of oil to his home – pumped through an outside pump, flooding the basement – but Byas has lived at the home for two decades, and has never had an oil tank.

Trucker driving flips his rig while he was masturbating
A German trucker suspected of driving under the influence of drugs crashed his vehicle near Boras in western Sweden on Tuesday. He subsequently admitted to masturbating at the time of the accident.
The trucker, apparently unable to reach a satisfactory climax, then proceeded to continue to pleasure himself while in the midst of a police interrogation, according to the local Boras Tidning newspaper.
"He was masturbating while the police interrogated him," police prosecutor Åsa Askenbäck told the newspaper.
"He has admitted that he was not paying full attention at the time of the accident. He was playing with himself instead of focusing on the road."

Woman wakes up to find her left nipple bleeding
When Daly City resident Rosalinda Miran-Ramirez woke up one morning in April to find her left breast bleeding from the nipple, she panicked. The shirt she had been sleeping in was saturated with blood. So her husband took her to the emergency room at Seton Medical Center.
"In my mind I know something serious is going on," said Miran-Ramirez. "I need to see a doctor."
Doctors found a tumor and initially told her she had breast cancer. A biopsy later proved that assumption false; the tumor was benign.
But Miran-Ramirez said the real shock came when her insurance company, Blue Shield of California HMO, which had initially approved the claim for the emergency room visit, reversed course and sent her a new bill three months later requiring her to pay the total charges for that visit: $2,791.00.
Why? Documents from Blue Shield indicate the company had reviewed the case and determined Miran-Ramirez "reasonably should have known that an emergency did not exist."

TAILGATING COYOTE

.
A lady saw a man driving a pick-up truck down the freeway, and what appears was a dog was hanging onto the tailgate for dear life. A few weeks later, her neighbor saw this truck at the Bass Pro Shop in Daphne, Alabama.

The pick-up truck driver is a local taxidermist with a great sense of humor. And it’s not a dog, it's a coyote. Can you imagine how many people try to stop this guy?

Man sues BofA for "1,784 billion, trillion dollars"
Dalton Chiscolm is unhappy about Bank of America's customer service -- really, really unhappy.
Chiscolm in August sued the largest U.S. bank and its board, demanding that "1,784 billion, trillion dollars" be deposited into his account the next day. He also demanded an additional $200,164,000, court papers show.
Yet the money Chiscolm wants could dwarf all the bank's other problems.
It's larger than a sextillion dollars, or a 1 followed by 21 zeros. Chiscolm's request is equivalent 1 followed by 22 digits.

Pregnant Woman Is Pregnant Again
Julia Grovenburg Is Expecting Two Babies but Not Twins Two Weeks Apart
A pregnant woman in Arkansas surprised doctors twice over when she went in for a routine ultrasound this June.
Doctors successfully located Todd and Julia Grovenburg's growing baby girl Jillian, but then discovered another smaller baby -- what could be Jillian's younger brother -- growing beside her.
The Grovenburgs may have conceived their son Hudson a full two-and-a-half weeks after Jillian, according to statements given to KFSM-TV in Ft. Smith-Fayetteville, Ark.
Different from identical twins or fraternal twins, the Grovenburg babies would have separate due dates and are considered to be a rare medical occurrence.

Snake with foot found in China

A snake with a single clawed foot has been discovered in China, according to reports.
"I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound. I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw," said Mrs Duan of Suining, southwest China.
Mrs Duan said she was so scared she grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death before preserving its body in a bottle of alcohol.
The snake – 16 inches long and the thickness of a little finger – is now being studied at the Life Sciences Department at China's West Normal University in Nanchang.
Snake expert Long Shuai said: "It is truly shocking but we won't know the cause until we've conducted an autopsy."
A more common mutation among snakes is the growth of a second head, which occurs in a similar way to the formation of Siamese twins in humans.
Such animals are often caught and preserved as lucky tokens but have very little chance of surviving in the wild anyway, especially as the heads have a tendency to attack each other.

Elderly Man Strapped To Oxygen Tank Robs Bank
Authorities say a well-dressed elderly man carrying an oxygen tank has robbed a bank in the California beach town of La Jolla.
San Diego police Sgt. Ray Battrick says the suspect presented a demand note to a teller at the San Diego National Bank Saturday. He fled with an unknown amount of cash.
Battrick says it's unclear whether the suspect had a weapon.
The robber is described as a tall man in his 70s with white hair, a gray mustache and glasses. He was wearing a white beret, argyle sweater and brown sports jacket.
Battrick says the oxygen tank was in a black bag and connected to the man's nose with plastic tubing.

Parents accused of dumping daughter's body in concrete
An eight-year-old French girl who was reported missing by her parents last week has been found encased in concrete at her father's workplace in Le Mans, northern France.
The parents of the girl, who had mild Down's syndrome and has been named only as Marina, have been arrested and placed under official investigation for murder.
The father first claimed Marina had disappeared, saying he had left her for a couple of minutes asleep in his car in a McDonald's car park, and that she was no longer there on his return. He later claimed the child died of natural causes.
But prosecutors allege Marina, who was slightly physically handicapped, died after being beaten and that the body was kept in the freezer before being covered in concrete in a Mafia-style attempt to hide her corpse from the police.
Update: Parents who claimed their disabled daughter had been kidnapped are charged with her murder.

Wal-Mart Porno Prank
Most people go to Wal-Mart for their low prices, but shoppers at the Fort Smith, Ark., location got an eyeful when two enterprising twenty-something's placed a porno DVD into a player that connected to the store's TV's.
While it's certainly one way to test TV's, police have charged Cody Allen Sexton and Kenny Dean Andrews, two young Oklahoma guys, with felony obscenity complaints.
The X-rated DVD played on at least six televisions, and was removed when a customer notified a Wal-Mart store manager.
Police Sgt. Levi Risley says the two thought they were just pulling a prank.

Her friends told her to paint "ATTN: Police Please Do Not Pull Me Over Just Because I'm Pretty" on the rear windshield of her car because the bubbly blonde was constantly being pulled over. 6-year-old driver says mother was ‘smoking the smelly stuff’

A Pennsylvania mother’s 6-year-old daughter was reportedly driving the family car when police say mom was too impaired.
Police spotted the 6-year-old driving a Dodge Durango while her mother rode in the passenger seat.
When police stopped the vehicle, the mother, Lakisha Hogue, allegedly told them she was teaching her daughter to drive.
The officers believed Hogue was intoxicated or high and didn’t quite know what was going on.
The 6-year-old girl told police her mother was just tired, but while calling her aunt from the scene, admitted mom had been “smoking smelly stuff” again.
Police said a DUI or toxicology test was not conducted on Hogue because she was not behind the wheel. She was arrested, though, and was being held on a $15,000 bond. Hogue’s four children are staying with family.

Stockpile

Woman stockpiles 1,100 banned light bulbs so she can read for rest of her life
A pensioner has defied an EU ban by hoarding more than 1,000 traditional light bulbs - enough to see her 'into the grave'.
Valerie Hemsley-Flint, 62, has spent more than £500 of her pension money stockpiling the old-style 100-watt bulbs.
September 1, EU countries were banned from producing or importing incandescent bulbs and shops can sell only energy-efficient ones.
But Miss Hemsley-Flint said the light from them is not good enough for her to read by and the flickering sets off her epilepsy.
So she has bought 1,100 old-style bulbs and is calling on the Government to scrap the ban.
From her home in Sittingbourne, Kent, Miss Hemsley-Flint said: 'I suffer from photosensitive epilepsy, which means I can't get near any screen or anything that flickers.
'I worked out that if I live as long as my aunts did - into their 90s - I would need about 30 years' worth of the old-style bulbs for each room.
'I have more than 1,000 now - in fact 1,100. It has cost me a small fortune but for me it's worth it and will see me through to the grave.'
The former teacher, estimates she needs about 20 bulbs at a time to light her £300,000 three-bedroom country cottage.

Small Bits of News You Didn’t Know you Needed

Runner is a 'Hermaphrodite'
The controversy over gender row champion runner Caster Semenya deepened today — after reports claimed sex swap tests have shown she is a HERMAPHRODITE.
South African gold-medalist Semenya, 18, has both male and female organs, it was claimed.
And sources close to the International Association of Athletics Federations — who ordered extensive tests on the teen after her amazing 800m win at the World Athletics Championships last month — say the results mean she could still be stripped of her medal.
Semenya is claimed to have NO womb or ovaries — and has internal testes, the male sexual organs which produce testosterone.
The row over Semenya's biology has caused huge divisions — with South African politicians calling slurs she is a man "racist and sexist." Her birth certificate has the teen listed as female and urine tests showed that, despite her having higher than average male hormone levels, they are within the official limits for a woman.

Police shut down kick-my-crotch-for-cash operation
A Rainier man came up with an innovative — if rather painful — money-making idea and decided to give it a test run Tuesday at the Triangle Center in Longview.
The 23-year-old man held a sign inviting people to kick him in the groin for the bargain price of $5.
Perhaps fortunately for him, only one customer took him up on the deal before police decided to break up his enterprise.
And even worse, he’d dropped the price to $3 for his one customer because she was female, he told Longview police.
After receiving a complaint about the man, Longview police made him leave the area and told him not to return.
He got off lightly compared with a Canadian man who, in 2007, asked women in Guelph, Ontario, to do the same thing to him at no charge. According to a Canadian newspaper, one of the women kicked him repeatedly.

51,000 marijuana plants found in Washington
Drug task force investigators have reported the discovery of 51,000 marijuana plants at five sites in north central Washington.
Okanogan County Frank T. Rogers says 30,000 pot plants were removed Tuesday from four sites in the Methow Valley. Three people were arrested at a site near Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop.
Meanwhile, Colville tribal police asked for help in finding whoever was growing more than 21,000 marijuana plants on the reservation.
Tribal police were joined by police from Republic and Spokane, Border Patrol and FBI agents and sheriff's deputies from three counties in an eradication effort that began Tuesday. The pot was valued at about $21 million.

Knowing too much about your neighbor

Judges have reduced the rent on a posh apartment - because the tenants could hear their neighbors peeing through the thin walls.
Peter and Susana Keller have had the rent on their home in Berlin, Germany, reduced by 10%.
Noise pollution experts told the court that some noise would be expected to travel but the sound of a man urinating into the toilet was "clear, distinct and plainly very irritating".
Mr. Keller said after the verdict: "I am very happy with the outcome, although it will not solve the problem in itself.
"It is though some compensation after having to put up with something which has been very unpleasant for us.
"It was not just the noise itself that was a problem but the fact that you knew exactly what the source of the noise was in complete detail.
"It was terrible to listen to if you heard it just as you were sitting down to your dinner."
