U.S.Border Fence Built in Mexico -- $3 Million to Fix

It was built to keep Mexicans from crossing illegally into the U.S., but the 1.5 mile fence at the border was mistakenly built on Mexican soil. Border officials say the blunder could cost the taxpayers $3 million.

The fence is a section of a 15-mile barrier constructed in 2000 near the town of Columbus, New Mexico. An aerial survey conducted in March reveals that the fence is no more than six feet from the U.S., but still legally inside Mexico.

In a letter to Washington, D.C., the Mexican Foreign Relations Department said, "Our country will continue insisting for the removal to be done as quickly as possible."

A charter-boat captain from Lake Charles, La., photographed a rare pink dolphin a couple of weeks ago in Calcasieu Lake, an estuary just north of the Gulf of Mexico in southwestern Louisiana. According to Calcasieu Charter Service's Web site, Capt. Erik Rue was on the lake June 24 with fishing customers when five dolphins came into view — four normal-looking gray ones, and a bright pink one that appeared to be an adolescent. "It appears to be an uncanny freak of nature, an albino dolphin, with reddish eyes and glossy pink skin," the Web site reads. "It is small in comparison to the others it is traveling with and appears to be a youngster traveling with mama. "There is a species of pink dolphin that lives in the Amazon River in South America, but this one appears to be a more common bottlenose dolphin.

Woman used live artillery shell as a doorstop for 20 years

For decades the seven-inch-long shell had been a family memento, polished and given pride of place on the mantelpiece. The First World War relic also served as a toy and finally, for the past 20 years, as a front doorstop at the home of 68-year-old Thelma Bonnett. At any time during all those years, however, it could have exploded. The German squat shell was live, packed with its original payload and with its firing mechanism primed, experts have said. It had been in the family for nearly a century after her grandfather Arthur Croxall brought it home in 1918. "I had no idea it was dangerous," Mrs Bonnett said. A spokesman for the bomb squad said a firing mechanism had been activated during the First World War but the shell failed to go off. The mechanism had since fallen off but the 'live' charge could have exploded at any time.

Sex Offender Arrested After Cops Find 15-Year-Old Girl in His Bed

When a 42-year-old registered sex offender answered the door naked and acting nervous during a surprise check by cops, the officers acted on suspicion and searched his home.
What they found next was a 15-year-old girl in Robert Gomez's bed, according to MyFoxTampaBay.com.
The girl cooperated, telling cops she met Gomez in an online chat room seven months ago, and that a sexual relationship began immediately.
Gomez was arrested and booked on one count of lewd and lascivious battery and a probation violation.
Already a registered a sex offender, Gomez was convicted in June 2002 on a lewd and lascivious assault charge on a victim under the age of 16.
He is being held on $7,500 bond for the second-degree felony.

Pizza joint delivers porno pics

It doesn't matter what you put on your pizza at this delivery joint, it's still hotter than the average slice. Local entrepreneur Corey Wildeman has launched Porno Pizza, a delivery-only pizza business that places pornography where you would usually find only cardboard -- under the pizza. The idea for the business came to Wildeman, 30, while working at other pizza places. "I'm absolutely thrilled with how successful it's been," he said while on a delivery last night. The business recently began operating out of an Osborne Street business. Although customers can't pick which saucy image they will receive, the owner would like to offer more specific choices in the future.

MANILA, Philippines - He needed the money for his sick wife and overdue rent, but honesty prevented a motorcycle taxi driver from keeping $17,000 left behind by a passenger.

Iluminado Boc returned the money to police in Tagbilaran city on central Bohol Island last week, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported Monday. The woman who lost the bag of cash had just reported it to police when Boc showed up at the precinct.

"It was not mine," Boc was quoted as saying.

Boc, 45, said he was struggling financially because his wife was taken to a hospital the same day he found the money, and they had unpaid rent.

The owner rewarded him with $32 — about seven times what a motorcycle taxi driver makes a day.

A woman who works as a makeup artist and deli clerk found $20,000 at a bank's drive-up depository, then calmly walked into the bank and turned over the cash. Linda Hatch said her mind raced in the seconds after she found the two $10,000 bundles in a plastic deposit tube on June 25.
"Am I in the middle of a bank robbery ... a drug bust, is someone going to pick up the money?" Hatch said. "I was like, 'Oh, my gosh. What do I do?'"
Hatch, who owns a permanent makeup business in Lake Havasu City and also works at an Albertsons grocery store, said the bank teller she approached was just as confused about what to do.
"She looked at me like, 'What is this?'" Hatch said.
Hatch said she filed a police report in the days after turning over the cash and hasn't been told by the bank whether the rightful owner has ever surfaced.
Bank employees declined to comment.
Hatch said she was "shaken for five hours" after the discovery. But she has no second thoughts about turning in the cash and laughed while recalling the scenario.
"It's not enough money to move to Mexico," she said.
