Orlando police traded a pair of shoes for a missile launcher

Orlando Police Sgt. Barbara Jones holds a Surface to Air Missile Launcher.
On Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, in Orlando, this had been turned in to Orlando Police Kicks for Guns 2007 program. Citizens can turn in a gun with no questions asked and receive a pair of sneakers. Last year the program recovered 116 guns.
Taking advantage of the exchange’s no-questions-asked policy, the man was not identified. He told the Orlando Sentinel that he found the weapon in a shed he tore down last week. “I didn’t know what to do with it, so I brought it here”, he said. I took it to three dumps to try to get rid of it and they told me to get lost.” More here.
