Small Bits of News You Didn’t Know you Needed

Two Contestants Bailed Out Of Truck After 55 Days
A radio station in Madison, Wis. this week halted a contest in which neither finalist showed signs of backing down even after spending nearly two months together in a truck.
Tommy Kempfer, 26, of Sun Prairie, and Lisa Thompson, 40, of Westfield, were vying to be the last person in the truck to win a new $30,000 vehicle.
They were allowed 10-minute breaks every three hours, time they used to eat healthy foods, exercise and talk to radio listeners. But after 55 days, officials with WMAD-FM "Star Country" in Madison began to worry the contest would never end.
So on Tuesday, the station offered Kempfer and Thompson a compromise -- end the contest and each would receive $10,000 toward the purchase of a car, trips for two to Las Vegas and $1,000 for a mattress. The pair was given an hour to accept or the contest would continue with the runner-up receiving nothing. Within 15 minutes, both agreed to the deal.

8 YO who vowed 1000th spanking would be his last, kills dad
An eight-year-old US boy accused of murdering his father and a family friend kept a tally of his parents' smackings, vowing that the 1,000th time would be the last, police believe.
The double murder on Nov 5 shocked the US, with investigators initially struggling to find any motive.
However, according to police records reported by the Arizona Republic, the boy "is believed to have made ledgers and/or communicated in the form of writings about his intentions" if his father and stepmother continued to smack him.
According to the police records, the boy told a Child Protective Services official that "when he reached one thousand spankings . . . that would be his limit. [The boy] kept a tally of his spankings on a piece of paper."
.
Even if he got one spanking a day it would take 2.73 years
.
What if he only got 56 spankings in 8 years and was just a really ***** counter?
