My Wife and Son and their trip to the store.
20 years ago my wife and I walked our son (who's now in college) around on a similar kiddie leash.
*) We knew where he was at ALL times.
*) He NEVER got lost from us.
*) No one ever snatched him.
*) He got more exercise because we weren't carrying him or pushing a stroller.
Don't knock it until you've tried it...
