Text to mom leads to LYAO arrest

Anthony Paul Burdeshaw wanted his mom to clean up his room and do the dishes. Unfortunately for the 33-year-old, the text message he used to convey his wishes led to his arrest, police said.
.
 .
Narcotics investigators with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office were called to an abandoned barn at 7312 Penny Road and discovered the chemicals used to manufacture meth, officials wrote in a news release.
Burdeshaw lived next to the barn with his mom at 7304 Penny Road, officials wrote, but wasn’t home at the time. His mom was home and after she received a text message from her son she approached an investigator and asked him to help her open it.
The narcotics investigator complied, going so far as to read the electronic missive to Burdeshaw’s mother, officials wrote.
The message was: “Hey Mom can u go to my bedroom and get the glass bowl under the bed and wash it with water really good and don’t give the cops permission to search.”

The embarrassing father is no more.

Over the course of the 180-day school year, Dale Price waved at the school bus carrying his 16-year-old son, Rain, while wearing something different every morning outside their American Fork home.
He started out by donning a San Diego Chargers helmet and jersey, an Anakin Skywalker helmet, and swim trunks and a snorkel mask,
Among others, he later dressed up as Elvis, Batgirl, The Little Mermaid, The scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz, Princess Leia, Nacho Libre and Santa Claus. He wore spandex, leather, feathers, wigs, flips flops, suits, boots, fur, Army fatigues and several dresses, including a wedding dress.

It's a nice day for a white wedding.
It's a nice day to start again."

Dale Price said it took a lot of effort to keep up, but he did it to have fun and show his son he really cared about him. "He can use it against his kids and tell them, 'If you think you are embarrassed by me, you should have seen your grandfather."
His mother, Rochelle Price, said it's important to have a sense of humor. She started a blog with photos of her husband's costumes at waveatthebus.blogspot.com.
"Life is hard. It is fun to be able to start it with a laugh every day," she said.
Despite all the fun, Dale Price said he doesn't plan on doing it again next year -- at least for now.

Placement

An advertising firm apologized for placing a billboard for a TV show called The Walking Dead on the side of a funeral parlor.
.
.
The unintended, "unfortunate juxtaposition" caused raised eyebrows in Consett, County Durham.
The roadside advert for the apocalyptic drama has since been removed from the exterior wall of the Co-operative Funeralcare premises, and an alternative has been pasted in its place.
A spokesperson for Clear Channel, the firm responsible for the billboard, said it was sorry. 'Clear Channel apologizes for any offence caused by the unfortunate juxtaposition of this advertisement, which was certainly not intended,' she said. 'We arranged to have it moved right away and it has now come down.'

Pillow Fight Day sees feathers fly worldwide

International Pillow Fight Day was celebrated around the world at the weekend, marking the fourth year of the glorious annual feather-fest.
Cities around the globe were filled with hundreds of thousands of pillow-brandishing types for the event, from New York's Union Square to Nelson's Column in London and the Dr Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei.
Started by The Urban Playground Movement, International Pillow Fight Day sees participants smack each other around with their feather-filled weapons.
The organization’s mission is to make more use of public spaces and ultimately replace the world's couch-potato habits.

.
In the UK capital, participants showed up for the 2011 event wearing pyjamas, dressing gowns and fancy dress.
In the Big Apple, fighters also rocked up in fancy dress, with costumes ranging from ninja chic to a spot of Spartan style.
In LA, one participant turned himself into a human pillow by strapping some to his body with duct tape.

Crazy Paving

Boozed-up British tourists have to watch where they walk in Alicante after a new patterned pavement has been laid causing nausea and confusion.
The crazy design in the Spanish holiday resort causes the eye to think that the pavement is not flat but stepped.
Set in rows of diamonds at 90 degrees to each other, the opposing slabs create an optical illusion tricking the walker into thinking the walkway is a series of never ending steps.
The design has been causing confusion for British holiday makers as they stumble home after night of drinking.
Some have fallen over and others have suffered nausea.

Small Bits of News You Didn’t Know You Needed

Fugitive couldn't resist his wife's lasagna.
He avoided Italian police for a decade on the run. Police say Giancarlo Sabatini went into hiding in 2000, shortly after being given a 3-year, 8-month prison sentence in a cocaine trafficking case.
Acting on a tip, police staked out the homes of Sabatini's wife and daughter in Rocca Priora, a town near Rome. When they saw the daughter leaving her mother's house dashing toward her home bearing a tray of lasagna, police, suspecting a guest, burst in and arrested Sabatini.
Many Italians prepare lasagna with meat sauce for lunch. Police say Sabatini came from his hideout in Belgium to get some of his wife’s cooking.

Bank robber busted by urine DNA
A Swedish bank robber forgot to cover his tracks and left three bottles of urine behind after hiding inside a bank vault in Copenhagen, Denmark for three days. The 27-year-old man and his accomplice used the bottles to relieve themselves after sneaking into the vault on a Friday in May and remaining there until the bank opened again the following Monday.
While inside, the robbers emptied 140 safety deposit boxes of at least $500,000 in cash and jewelry. But Prosecutor Frederik Larsen said they forgot to take the urine when they left "so we were able to get their DNA samples from the bottles."
The evidence helped prosecutors win a 21-month prison sentence for the Swede. His accomplice is still at large and the loot hasn't been recovered.

Money was found along Ohio highway
Police in Delaware, Ohio are trying to figure out how thousands of dollars in cash ended up along a highway.
Authorities had been alerted by a motorist, and officers spent hours collecting the cash. Martin won't reveal the total except to say it was "five figures."
The Delaware Police checked with the FBI, an armored car company and bank couriers. None reported missing any money.
The chief is confident officers rounded up all the bills, so he says drivers shouldn't stop in hopes of finding treasure.

Pot growers use alligator to protect their plants
California narcotics investigators found a $1.5 million marijuana growing operation at a house and an unusual security guard - a 4-foot-long alligator named Wally.
The Riverside County drug task force team moved in on a house Monday night and seized nearly 2,300 pot plants. The agents also found the reptile, described as a "watch-gator."
The 55-pound American alligator was turned over to the Phelan-based Forever Wild Exotic Animal Sanctuary, since gators are illegal in California.
29-year-old John Nathan Donna, who lives in the home, was arrested and booked for investigation of marijuana cultivation and possession. He was released on $100,000 bail.

Wife's revenge: Cuts the crotch from pants
A wife flew to Chicago to cut the crotches out of the pants of a woman who was vacationing with her husband. "All of the damage to the pants was in the area of the ... crotch," a police report said.
About 10 pieces of clothing, valued at between $1,500 and $2,000, were damaged, according to the report.
The man told police the woman was just a friend and was visiting him from Turkey. She declined to press charges over the damage. The man also told police that he was separated, though not divorced, from his wife, who lives out of state.
The wife acknowledged to police that she had damaged the clothing — and that the two are still married, talk on the telephone several times per day, and have lived separately because of their work situations.
The woman said her husband told her he was traveling to a business conference, but she became enraged when she discovered he was vacationing in the Caribbean with another woman.
She told investigators she flew from the East Coast to Chicago and took a cab to the home she still co-owns with her husband, and was shocked to find that her husband "had hidden everything that would reveal he was married."
She found the other woman's clothes in a closet, cut various items with a pair of scissors, put them in a suitcase and left it in the home's driveway, she told investigators.

Iowa Man Spells Out Wife's Birthday Message in Manure

ZWINGLE, Iowa - Ask this Iowa wife if she got the perfect birthday present and she'll tell you her hubby "dung good."
Carole and Dick Kleis live together on their eastern Iowa farm. This year for her birthday, Dick used more than 120,000 pounds of manure to spell out a special message. It basically says 'Happy Birthday, Love You,' but in shorthand.
And it only took three hours to spell it all out in a stinky, but mushy way.
"It's not hard," said Kleis. "Any manure will work but the good, soft, gushy, warm stuff works the best. It kind of melts the snow."
Carole say Dick's birthday is in May and she's already thinking of ways to beat out his gift.

Man in Breathalyzer Costume Accused of Drunken Driving

A man wearing a breathalyzer costume was arrested Sunday on suspicion of driving drunk.
According to a police report, 18-year-old James N. P. Miller, of Cincinnati, was seen driving the wrong way out of the entrance to a one-way street at East Park Place in Oxford.
Officers executed a traffic stop and found that Miller was wearing a breathalyzer costume. After investigation, police said, Miller was found to be operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Inside his car, officers allegedly found an open container of Bud Light in the center console.
Officers also found what was left of a case of Bud Light in the passenger side front seat and in the trunk.
After checking his wallet, police said, they found multiple Ohio IDs.
He was arrested and transported to the police station, where he consented to take a blood-alcohol-content test. His results were a .158 percent BAC.
He was cited for OVI, open container and a one-way street violation, among other charges and released to his girlfriend.

Dog buys 5,000 Xbox points

Perhaps you are one of those who saves your credit card information on your Xbox remote so you can buy points at the very time your mood demands them. Perhaps you also have a dog then this story will be important to you.
Greg was in bed with Christine but his Xbox wasn't. The next morning Greg went downstairs and checked his phone to discover that the e-mail was a thank you from Microsoft for purchasing 5,000 Xbox points. Greg was somewhat flummoxed, as the time of purchase seemed to coincide with the time he was in bed.
Then he espied his Xbox remote. He detected a little spittle. The spittle was not his own, nor that of his beloved, nor even that of his roommate, who had also been in bed at the time. The spittle belonged to Oscar, his dog.
Perhaps Oscar had sudden urges to buy some new game content. Because there was no other explanation as to who had made the Xbox purchase. "The only living creature that could have done it was the dog," he said.
Greg surmised that Oscar had pawed at the remote with such beginner's good fortune that he had successfully spent $62.50.
Greg didn't even attempt to persuade Microsoft there had been a mistake. However, he said "I just wish they'd make it a little harder to purchase points."
Oh, Greg. Retail doesn't work that way. It's there to make purchasing easier.

How Dumb Can A Person Be?

Moments later, Carroll police officers pulled over a car matching the suspects' vehicle a couple blocks away and found the two occupants with faces blackened by a permanent marker.

One Finger Salute

.
Cop arrests girl, 5 - twice
A German police chief has come under fire after arresting a five-year-old girl for playing too roughly with his son - and then charging her for giving him the finger.
Little Monika Kretzmer was in tears when the police chief - named only as Wolfgang M for legal reasons - drove her home under arrest when she upset his son at a sandpit.
But the furious cop arrested her again a few days later when she saw him in uniform and allegedly stuck a finger up at him.
The police chief despatched a team of officers to the family home in Chiemgau, Germany, to warn her parents of her actions and tell them she would be charged with anti social behavior.
But family lawyer Roland Netzer said: "This sort of behavior by the police in the city casts a shadow over their reputation.
"We have filed a complaint with the Interior Ministry and we can assure the policeman she doesn't even know what it means to show someone the finger."

Collection Agency Sends Four Letters To Collect A $.04 Debt

Pete received a bill in the mail that has him slightly offended and amused. A health care provider has sent his balance to collections after a payment arrived late a few years ago. They will clearly be hurting if he doesn't pay his overdue balance of ....four cents.
Yesterday I got a collections notice in the mail from a collections group on behalf of my health provider – it took several calls to determine this was based off a debt from 2004 where a payment was late, but paid after notice – they didn't alert me to the exact amount – leaving a few cents on the bill.
After calling the collections company about this – they laughed and said to treat this, and the next three notices with the same information as a Origami trainer and ignore it.
This came in a regular envelope, which suggests a 40 cent mailing cost + paper + envelope X 4 notices – many more times than the debt itself! Add to that the suggestion that I may be able to get the debt reduced to 50% If I respond in time!
Reduced to half, really? Are you sure you don't want to take them up on this offer?
Automated letters save a lot of work, but result in some ridiculous situations.
