Police say workers got illegal prescriptions
Four postal workers from Lawrence, Mass. have been arrested and charged in a prescription drug sting. The Lawrence workers obtained fraudulent prescriptions from a local doctor’s office for narcotic pain killers and then used the drugs, police say. Cop probed after ticketing spree
Officer John Mullan faces two-day suspension
A Boston police officer is under investigation for giving tickets to a slew of vehicles parked near the Statehouse on the same day the state Senate cut funding for a police bonus program.
Police department spokesman Elaine Driscoll told the Boston Herald that internal affairs is investigating whether the ticketing spree was "improper use of authority" and that Officer John Mullan faces a two-day suspension.
Mullan handed out 15 tickets on Wednesday, the same day the Senate slashed $51 million in funding for the Quinn Bill, which boosts pay for police with advanced degrees.
Some of the tickets were put on cars belonging to legislative staffers that were parked legally with legislative stickers.
Driscoll says the tickets will be reviewed.

Woman charged with abusing corpse
A Seabrook, New Hampshire woman has been charged with abusing a corpse, according to police. Danielle Reader, 26, of Seabrook, was arrested on May 12. Police say she took the body of a man who died in her bathroom and left him on a third floor stairwell of her apartment building. "Abusing" a corpse includes moving or concealing a dead body. The male was identified as John Eaton, 24, of Lee, N.H. Police said Eaton did not live there but it appears that he knew Reader. Police said Eaton’s body was on the stairwell for about an hour before it was noticed. There were no obvious signs of trauma and police are looking at it as a drug overdose. Reader was arraigned at Hampton District Court and pleaded not guilty yesterday. She is being held on $50,000 Cash or Surety.
